Dolphins Are Trounced

TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 2 (UPI) Joe Kapp threw for one touchdown and set up two others as he sparked the Minnesota Vikings to a 24-point second period outburst en route to a 45-10 exhibition victory over the Miami Dolphins tonight.

Miami jumped to a 10-0 lead over its National League rivals before the Vikings got their offense rolling. The Dolphins, plagued by poor punting and an erratic attack, scored on an intercepted pass and a field goal.

Kapp, who completed 11 of 20 passes in the first half for 163 yards, hit Bob Grim with a 13-yard scoring toss and later used passes to set up five yard scoring runs by Bill Brown and Daye Osborn.

Kapp turned the quarterbacking chores over to Gary Cuozzo and Bob Lee in the second half and each accounted for a touchdown. Cuozzo scored from the 1-yard line in the third quarter and Lee threw 25 yards to Volly Murphy with four seconds left for the final tally. In between, Earl Denny scored from the 1 for another Viking touchdown.
