RAIDERS TOP 49ERS AS BLANDA EXCELS

OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 31 (UPI) George Blanda left the bench in the second half to throw three touchdown passes and give the Oakland Raiders a 42-28 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in a preseason game today.

Blanda, 41 years old, replaced Daryle Lamonica in the third quarter after Lamonica was shaken up. Blanda passed to Billy Cannon for 13 yards and then hit Marv Hubbard, a rookie, with a 2-point conversion pass to tie the score 28-28 with seven minutes to play.

Dave Grayson intercepted two John Brodie passes to set up the winning touchdown. He returned the first 63 yards to the San Francisco 7 from where Blanda passed to Warren Wells for the go-ahead touchdown.

The 49ers' defensive lineman, Kevin Hardy, suffered a knee injury in the first period and may require surgery that would keep him out the rest of the season.

Hardy, an all-American from Notre Dame, had to be carried off the field, his left leg limp
