There was
an echo of the old rivalry even years after the merger of the AFL and
NFL |
|

Many of
today's inter-conference rivalries began in the inter-league era of the 1960's |
|
Finally, a
couple of notes. The Green Bay Packers, the dynasty of the era and
champions of Super Bowls I and II, did not play an AFL team in the
inter-league preseason era. But, the Baltimore Colts picked up the
NFL flag. Ironically, the Colts, who became the first NFL team to lose a
Super Bowl to an AFL squad, went undefeated in their 8 games of
the series. And, all were played on the road.
