Jacquelin Mitchard on her childhood experiences and memories of the College All-Star Game:

At any rate, one thing I learned was that there was something every season called the Chicago College All-Star Game, which hasn't been held, I now know, since 1976. From my boyfriend (who, of course, didn't know he was my boyfriend) I determined that it was a game played each year between all the very best college ballplayers and the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers would always win. People at the bar in my uncle's resort were not surprised by this: They gave the young collegians credit for even showing up against the men who wore the green and gold. My grandfather once told me that the Chicago College All-Star Game had been going on since 1934, and I was amazed that they'd never given any other pro football team a turn against the college players.
