Norris Weese

Hawaiians

Norris Weese had the dubious task of following a legend, Archie Manning, at Ole Miss. But, in 1971, he led Mississippi to the Peach Bowl crown. He signed with the WFLs Hawaiians and was named as their starting quarterback in 1974. Weese shared the job that season with ex-NFL quarterback Randy Johnson.

Weese is best remembered for relieving an ineffective Craig Morton in the second half of Super Bowl XII for the Denver Broncos. Weese led the Broncos to a touchdown on a third quarter drive to cut his team's deficit to 20-10. He eventually won the starting role over Morton in 1979, but a knee injury that year ended his NFL career.
