Although Frazier's reign began with an 11th round TKO of big Buster Mathis,

he wasn't officially recognized as champion until he defeated Jimmy Ellis with a 4th round TKO,  February 16, 1970.

He became the people's champion with his win over Ali in the "Fight of the Century".
