When the Silicon Valley Classic went out of business because of financial problems, it was replaced by the Poinsettia Bowl, operated by organizers of the Holiday Bowl and played at the same venue, San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium. Sponsored by the San Diego County Credit Union, the bowl matches a team from the Mountain West Conference against an at-large opponent.
