About the communities that are offered:

Changzhou:

Changzhou is a modern city of 3.5 million located about 90 miles from Shanghai. A Qing dynasty poet declared "there are none such under heaven as Changzhou, where famous persons come from." Numerous memorial halls in Changzhou and the surrounding area commemorate its famous citizens, including soldiers, scholars, revolutionaries, industrialists, physicians, artists and writers.

Nanjing:

Nanjing is the capital of China's Jiangsu Province and was the capital of China for six imperial dynasties and of the Republic of China. It has also served as a national hub of education, research, transportation and tourism throughout history. With a population of 7.7 million, Nanjing is world famous, a modern city linked to the rest of the world.

Nantong:

Because the coast of the East China Sea is constantly moving eastward as the Yangtze River adds silt to its delta, the distance between Nantong and the seashore is much farther than in ancient times. Nantong has a history of economic prosperity. From the time of the Han dynasty through to the Tang dynasty, it was a minor county subordinate to Yangzhou. By 958 AD, however, the city was propering and called Tongzhou. It was renamed Nantong (Southern Tong) in 1724. The prosperity of Nantong has been based in salt production on the nearby seacoast, rice and cotton agriculture, and especially the production of cotton textiles. It remains an important centre for the textile industry. Because of its deep-water harbor and connections to inland navigational canals, it was one of 14 port cities opened to foreign investment in the economic reforms.

Suqian:

Suqian is a beautiful city with a cultural history of 2,500 years. It is actually much older, beyond a westerner's wildest imagination. Archaeological findings have taken its human history back 40,000-50,000 years. With an area population of 5.2 million persons, it is known nationally as the “Flower Town in China”.

Taizhou:

Taizhou, which means, “Peaceful Country and Lucky Citizens,” was named during the Southern Tang Dynasty, 2100 years ago. During the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), it was a center of China’s salt trade. Through the ages, Taizhou has seen gatherings of great talents and famous merchants. It is the hometown of great artistic masters like Shi Nai'an, Zheng Banqiao, and Mei Lanfang. As the birth place of the Navy of the People's Liberation Army, Taizhou is now one of the most famous historical and cultural cities of Jiangsu Province.

Xuzhou:

Xuzhou is one of the nine oldest states in ancient China. It has a long history over 5,000 years and over 2,600 years as a city. With an area population of 9.4 million persons, Xuzhou ranks as one of the top cities in China for strong scientific and educational institutions.

Yangzhou:

Yangzhou is beautiful and rich in heritage. Marco Polo served here under the Mongol emperor Kubilai Khan around 1282-1287. Today, Yangzhou is a tourist attraction. With a population of 4.6 million, Yangzhou is located near Nanjing and on the Grand Canal. The boyhood home of former President Jiang Zemin, Yangzhou's food is noted for its appealing color, aroma, taste.

Zhenjiang:

Originally captured by Qin Shi Huang, the first Chinese emperor, in 221 BC, Zhenjiang is today an important transportation hub near the intersection of the Yangtze River and the Grand Canal. It has expressways and railway links connecting directly to the Provinces of Henan and Shandong, as well as the economic hub Shanghai. Zhenjiang is a pleasant little town with a population of 2.6 million.

The Mission of CNET

English Teaching Foreign Experts are needed desperately in Jiangsu, China for one or two semester contracted teaching engagements. Jiangsu Province is located in Eastern China, bordering the Shanghai metropolitan area to the East. Jiangsu Province is the wealthiest and fastest growing area of China economically. The weather is temperate, comparing to South Carolina in the USA. Jiangsu Province is the ideal location for a Western teacher to relax and enjoy the “China Experience” while assisting in China’s “Opening Up”.

Zhu Yan and Mark Bolding are a husband and wife living in Houston, TX. They formerly lived in Changzhou in Eastern China, located 90 miles northwest of Shanghai. Yan is fluent in English and worked as an interpreter in the Chinese banking system during the "Opening Up". Mark worked in China as a middle school teacher from 2003-2005.  Representatives from the Jiangsu Education Department in Nanjing contacted them and asked them to help with recruitment due to the acute need for professional teachers in the Province. Being raised in Jiangsu Province, Yan can give the prospective student an idea of what the society is like there and Mark can give them an idea of what a foreigner can expect.

What separates us from other recruiting agencies are the facts that we ask no fees from recruits and our recruiters here in the USA can offer a perspective on life in China both from the American and Chinese viewpoint. We feel that we can do more to prepare a potential candidate than most companies, especially those based in China or those whose employees are specifically Chinese or American.

For Collegiate Departments, Educators and Students

You may have been contacted by us directly in the last five years as a Department of English or Education at an American four year college or university. We have attempted to recruit by contacting specific departments at accredited institutions directly. We have provided below a PDF poster for professors and students. We hope these are helpful. At this time, we do not send out promotional materials by regular mail. We are not a commercial or for-profit organization and  are trying to contain the costs.

We also would like to inform schools and department heads that we are able to work with you on the placement of student groups on an annual basis. We have been approached in the last four years by schools that were seeking an ongoing relationship with the Bureau in China for student overseas placement. We would be very happy to work with specific departments and institutions to arrange something for you in Jiangsu Province. There is a distinct advantage to working with CNET on placement because, should an institution work directly with a specific school in China and that school can back out of the arrangement at any time. Should this happen, feel free to contact us about placement. The Bureau can always provide positions.
