Richard Todd

New York Jets

Richard Todd played for the Alabama under legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. He was the 6th overall pick in the 1976 NFL Draft being chosen by the New York Jets in the 1st round. He quarterbacked New York from 1976 to 1983, and the New Orleans Saints in 1984 and 1985.

New York released Namath after the '76 season and handed his job to the 23-year-old Todd. In 1981, he led the Walt Michaels coached Jets to their first winning record (10-5-1) since 1969 and a playoff birth. The next year, he led the Jets to the AFC Championship Game against the Miami Dolphins, but lost.

For his career, Todd completed 1610 of 2967 passes for 20,610 yards and ran for 932 yards and 14 touchdowns.
